1 Day Work Week (1DWW) didn’t start as a slogan.
It started as a question.
What am I actually trying to build here?
The old scoreboard felt off
Like a lot of people, I grew up around the idea that more effort, more hours, and more sacrifice were just the price of winning.
There’s truth in that. But there’s also a trap hiding in it.
Because if the game never gets smarter, it just gets heavier.
I wanted a different result
I didn’t want work to be the thing that swallowed the rest of life. I wanted work to create freedom. Control. Optionality. More space for the people and moments that actually matter.
That’s where the idea took root.
Not from wanting to do nothing.
From wanting the machine to stop demanding so much of my life just to function.
The Freedom Formula
I reverse engineered my 1DWW with a simple formula I call the Freedom Formula.
- How much does it cost to live a life you love?
- How much do you want to work?
- How much can your high income skills make?
Combine all these and you’ll get your Freedom Formula.
My 1DWW is based on 10 hours of work per week.
It’s enough to feel purposeful while leaving time for family & friends.
So now the 2 remaining numbers are how much you make and how much you spend.
Remember there’s two ways to be rich: have a lot or not need a lot. That’ll help you figure out your spend.
And investing in yourself, increasing your high income skills every day, is the best investment you can make.
So now what
What should all this effort buy?
That’s the question underneath 1DWW.
And I still think it’s one of the best questions a builder can ask.
Reply back and tell me about your 1DWW journey.
